no sr20, but the Maine state police have a black Focus ST on duty. Saw him creeping this morning, riding someones ass with a computer open, saw the antenna and the lights, and of course tints too dark for civilians to use. Didn't want the ticket for picking up my phone. God dammit

There's a police Prius around me. Looks like a completely normal Prius unless you look closely and see the mini lights. It's usually used for traffic control when there's an even downtown or it seems to be driven by detectives (maybe more than one). However, I did see it pull over a car once for what I assume was speeding. The irony.

this could be useful if anybody cared about the state of Maine.

haha yeah no doubt. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be, lets put an aggressive cop in there to goad people like they do on the Berlin Turnpike in CT

I'm so glad I can use my phone in the car in Florida. I get to call in cops who are driving like assholes. I should probably start exposing UCs.

That would be unsafe. It could lead to increased revenue though...

The police chief's car for Wisconsin Dells is a white Toyota Camry. Sneaky as fuck, yo.

Down here the cool cop cars are only display pieces basically. They take them around to show what they seized from drug dealers or to get on the good side of kids. I think they've done away with the true pursuit specials like they did way back. I remember in middle school they had a DARE program or something for the day. One cop had a near brand new Corvette and another had a near new either Camaro or Firebird. They had some extra graphics but the Corvette cop said they were for programs like what they were doing that day.
Down here we have the 100 days of HEAT. It started when I was in high school, I think as a reaction to tuner culture and the Fast/Furious movies. All black Crown Vic's with black slightly reflective lettering, no exposed lights, dark tint, and every available speed trap spot available. At night you didn't see them until your lights reflected off the tape. Terrifying when you're 16 and not paying attention to your speed. Some Crown Vic's remain but they've switched to Taurus and Explorer HEAT cars. The 100 days is for summer time when people are out more.

Oh yeah. Nobody suspects the Camry. He only uses it in-town, and it's the V6 model so it'll catch right up in town.

I saw your run of the mill white Ford Transit Connect driving around IU's campus last week, no sirens but it was hauling ass with the red and blues on. Needless to say I was quite confused when I first saw it.

for DARE they took this thing from a friends dad in my hometown. Literally dropped a bag of pills outside his door to seize it. I only know because I knew the family well, and I know how crooked the fuzz was back in the day. And he never actually was convicted. By the time he beat it it was already gone.

That's how crooked the fuzz were? Last I checked, any amount of cash being carried is a way to seize any vehicle.

That sucks. I've been fortunate not to run into any dirty cops or know anyone who has.
I've had some friends back when I was younger get busted (legitimate) and they'd say the cops were dirty. If you have a joint and the cop finds it and you get in trouble, that's not dirty, that's him doing his job. One could argue the fairness of weed laws but that's a different story.

Oh yeah, still rampant, but in that town it used to be really bad. It has gotten slightly better

Glad I don't live in Maine, that's bullshit. I'm never pulling over for a car that's not clearly a cop. Any asshole can put lights in his car and pretend to be a cop.

Not counting routine street-side extortion through overzealous traffic enforcement, I don't think that I've ever had an experience with a "clean" cop.

Wow...would've never expected that. I assume they don't have the optional Recaros; can't imagine those working out with any kind of utility belt!
I wonder if they've bought it or confiscated it and pressed it into their service.

It certainly looked fresh, but I couldn't see the seats. Cop was wearing sunglasses and a windbreaker, but he was certainly on traffic duty as he pulled into a median crossover to go make a circuit. Was awfully close to the bumper of the Subaru in front of him that was doing 5 over. I agree, those recaros would not be super awesome with a belt on!

Some never change. I think she would have many more years in her on screen if her eyesight wasn't deteriorating so badly.
I still watch repeats of As Time Goes By. The show never gets old and nor does she.

By the way, I love seeing a LEO on Oppo. Alot of mud gets slung round these parts, sometimes by me, but thank you for being a member here. People need to realize you guys are car people too alot of the time. Hell one of my great friends is a cop and one of the biggest VW fanboys out there to boot.
![]() 02/25/2015 at 12:08 |

I agree with your sentiments 100%. Far too easy for all of us to personally attack people who are just doing their jobs (and taking substantial risks to do so).
But I'm not an actual LEO, just impersonating a fictional one: Jim Lahey from Trailer Park Boys .
![]() 02/25/2015 at 12:10 |

ha I thought that sounded familiar. Ok so we can go back to being lawless Oppo for the time being.
